How Does My Service Join QAAMS?

Back

Given you achieved a 10/10 score with the checklist and you have your DCA 2000/Vantage in hand, you are ready to join the QAAMS Program.

To get started in the program, the following 5 steps must occur:

STEP 1. Complete Your QAAMS Enrolment Form

Complete the QAAMS Enrolment Form, which can be obtained either by downloading the PDF below or by contacting the QAAMS Program Manager, Mark Shephard, by phone on 08 82017555 or email Mark.Shephard@flinders.edu.au

STEP 2. Undertake Initial QAAMS Training

Prior to commencing POCT, your POCT operator (and any other relevant health professional staff) must undertake initial QAAMS Training. The QAAMS Training Co-ordinator Beryl Mazzachi (phone 08 82017791 email Beryl.Mazzachi@flinders.edu.au) will contact you to discuss and organise the most appropriate and timely training option for your service.

STEP 3. Obtain Your Start-Up QAAMS Resource Package

Having enrolled and received training, you will receive a start-up resource package including a Training Manual, set of posters, Training DVDs and a Quality Assurance kit , together with associated paperwork. The resource package is provided AT NO COST to participants. Participants will need to purchase Quality Control kits direct from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, using our specific QAAMS Order Form (at a cost of approximately $380 per year each for both HbA1c and urine ACR). This cost can be absorbed through the Medicare rebate provided your service conducts regular POCT.

STEP 4. Ensure the Medicare Rebate is in Place for Your Service

You will need to contact Mick McDonnell our Medicare Australia representative on the QAAMS Management team (phone 08 89226333 email Mick.McDonnell@medicareaustralia.gov.au) to ensure that your service is appropriately registered to receive your exclusive QAAMS Medicare rebates for POC HbA1c and urine ACR testing.

STEP 5. You are Ready to Start Testing Your Diabetes Patients!
